News Articles

Publish fishing news, gear reviews, and tournament reports directly on ProAngler.

Overview

ProAngler News is a built-in publishing platform for verified Pro and Business members. Write articles from your dashboard, submit them for editorial review, and β€” once approved β€” they appear on the shared ProAngler news feed at:

proangler.com/news/{slug}

All published articles are listed at:

proangler.com/news

Articles are sorted by publish date, discoverable across the platform, and indexed by search engines. Unlike blog posts β€” which live on your individual profile β€” news articles reach the entire ProAngler community.

Why Publish on ProAngler News?

News articles are a step above blog posts. They reach anglers who haven't found your profile yet and put your name in front of the broader community.

  • Platform-wide reach β€” articles appear in the shared news feed, not just on your profile
  • SEO-ready β€” every article gets its own URL, title, and excerpt for search engines
  • AI Draft Assistant β€” generate a web-researched draft from a topic in seconds
  • Reader voting β€” let your audience upvote articles they find valuable
  • Share to X β€” share your published article as a tweet or a long-form X Article

Article creation requires a Pro or Business account. Free accounts cannot create, draft, or submit news articles.

Creating an Article

  1. Go to dashboard.proangler.com and click News in the top navigation
  2. Click New Article
  3. Give your article a title β€” a URL slug is generated automatically
  4. Write your content in the body editor, or use the AI Draft Assistant to generate a starting point
  5. Optionally add a cover image, excerpt, and tags in the left sidebar
  6. When you're ready, click Submit for Review

Your article enters Pending status and is reviewed by the ProAngler editorial team before going live.

Managing Your Articles

Go to News in your dashboard to see all your articles. From here you can:

  • View the status of each article (Draft, Under Review, Published, or Rejected)
  • Create a new article
  • Open the editor for any article
  • Submit a draft for review
  • Delete an article

Article Statuses

StatusMeaning
DraftSaved but not submitted. Only you can see it. Fully editable.
Under ReviewSubmitted and waiting for editorial approval. Content is locked.
PublishedApproved and live on proangler.com/news. Content is locked.
RejectedReviewed and not approved. See the rejection notice in the editor for details.

Once an article is submitted for review it cannot be edited while pending. If you need to make changes before a decision is made, contact support to reset the article to draft status.

Rejected articles cannot be resubmitted. You must create a new article if you want to revise and try again.

Editing a Published Article

Once an article is published, its content is locked to protect links that readers may have shared. You cannot edit the title, body, excerpt, tags, or slug of a published article without unpublishing it first.

You can update the cover image at any time, even on a published article β€” the article URL does not change.

To make content edits to a published article:

  1. Open the article in the editor
  2. Click Unpublish β€” the article returns to draft status and is removed from the news feed
  3. Make your edits
  4. Click Submit for Review again β€” the article re-enters the editorial review process

Cover Image, Excerpt & Tags

FieldPurpose
Cover ImageDisplayed at the top of the article and as the card thumbnail in the news feed
ExcerptShort summary shown on news cards and in search results. Auto-generated from the first two sentences if left blank. Maximum 250 characters.
TagsUp to 5 tags. Help readers find related articles. Tags are clickable on the news page.

Reader Voting

You can enable reader voting on any article. When enabled, a vote button appears on the public article page and readers can upvote your content. Vote counts are displayed in your article list in the dashboard.

To toggle voting on or off, open the article editor and use the Voting toggle in the left sidebar. Voting can be changed at any time, including on published articles.

AI Draft Assistant

Pro and Business members can generate a research-grounded article draft directly in the editor. Enter a topic in the AI Draft Assistant panel in the left sidebar and click Generate Draft.

  • The AI searches the web using Perplexity Sonar Pro to find current information before writing
  • The draft includes a summary of relevant sources at the end so you can verify facts
  • The AI also generates an excerpt automatically β€” you can edit or replace it
  • If the AI search is unavailable, the assistant falls back to a local language model
  • If you already have content in the editor, you will be asked to confirm before it is replaced
  • Usage resets every Monday

AI drafts are a starting point β€” review and edit the output before submitting for review. The editorial team evaluates accuracy and quality, not just grammar.

Sharing Your Article

Once your article is published, two sharing options appear in the left sidebar of the editor.

Clicking Share to X opens X (Twitter) in a new tab with your article title and URL pre-filled as a tweet. Review the text and post.

No account connection required β€” you are already logged into X in your browser.

Prepare for X Article

X Articles let you publish long-form content natively on X. Clicking Prepare for X Article opens a panel with your article formatted and ready to copy in sections.

SectionWhat it contains
TitleYour article title β€” copy with one click
BodyFull article body in plain text
Cover Image URLDirect link to your cover image for uploading to X
TagsYour article tags, comma-separated

Copy each section, then click Open X Articles β†’ to go directly to x.com/compose/articles and paste.

Editorial Review

ProAngler News is a curated feed. All submissions from non-editor accounts go through an editorial review before publishing to ensure accuracy and quality. The review process typically completes within a few business days.

Editors can also feature articles on the ProAngler homepage. If your article is featured, it will appear prominently on the news landing page.

If you hold editor status on your account, your articles publish immediately without going through the review queue.

Archived Accounts

If an account is archived, all of that author's published news articles are removed from public view automatically. Articles are not deleted β€” they are set to an archived status and are no longer accessible on proangler.com/news.

Angler Points

Publishing a news article for the first time awards Angler Points to your pool. Points are only awarded on the initial publish β€” articles that are unpublished and republished do not award additional points.

See Angler Points for more on how the points system works.
